Last year, on this day, I made an amazing decision that has impacted my life incredibly! It was the last day of YEA camp, and I decided I would continue eating vegan! Eating plant-based has helped me bring more positive energy to everyone around me, something that I've always tried to do. I've also been able to pay more attention to my health and lifestyle. Veganism is also a way I reflect my values of compassion and kindness in my choices and actions! Just one person making these types of choices is not enough to change the world, but that's no reason to deny the opportunity to make the world better for the animals and the environment! I don't expect anyone to instantaneously change their lifestyles, but I think paying attention to the way your choices impact the world is important and essential.
When I was introduced to the reality of factory farming, the industries of meat, dairy, eggs, wool and animal products, I was horrified but the cruelty and violence. I had never even thought about where the milk in the store comes from, or the eggs, or the wool, and somehow I didn't make the connection that there are real, innocent, animals that have no control over their situation. The fact that I had a choice, on whether I would support those industries, or raise awareness about them, made me realize that I should make the best choices I can, whatever situation I'm in. I hope to continue to make the best choices I can my entire life, and veganism is a big part of that! I hope this has sparked your thought in some way and inspires you to consider the impact of your actions on creatures, the environment, and our world.
